An association loto is a lottery organised by a non-profit association for charitable or social purposes. It differs from commercial lotteries: prizes must be in kind (no cash), and the event must take place in a restricted setting (community hall, gym…). It is a popular fundraising method for sports clubs, twinning committees, schools, etc.
Prizes for an association loto must be in kind (appliances, hampers, gift vouchers…). They can be donated by local sponsors (retailers, artisans) or purchased by the association. Cash prizes are prohibited. Using sponsors significantly reduces costs and improves the profitability of your event.
Profitability is calculated by subtracting expenses (prizes, venue, card printing, SACEM, insurance) from revenue (card sales, refreshments). This simulator performs this calculation automatically in real time. The break-even point is the minimum number of players needed to cover all costs.

Yes, for lotos where the prize value exceeds a certain threshold, a declaration to the town hall or prefecture is mandatory. It is recommended to contact your town hall at least 1 month before the event. Some local authorities also require a venue occupancy permit and an insurance certificate.
